Keeping your Rear in Gear!

Diagnosing and repairing a vehicle's differential involves a series of steps to identify issues and restore proper function. Diagnosing and repairing a vehicle's differential involves a series of steps to identify issues and restore proper function. A technician first listens for common symptoms such as whining, humming or clunking noises, especially when turning or accelerating, A visual inspection follows, checking for leaks, damaged seals or worn-out gears. We will also assess the vehicle for any excessive play or binding. Once diagnosed, repairing the differential typically involves draining the old fluid, removing the cover and replacing worn components like bearings, gears, or seals. In some cases, a full rebuild or replacement may be necessary. After repairs, fresh gear oil is added, and the system is tested to ensure smooth, quiet operation has been restored. Proper maintenance and timely attention to warning signs can prevent major differential damage.
